A panel of world-renowned wine judges was assembled and they conducted a blind tasting of all 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons that were submitted by Napa Valley wineries. The wines were ranked from Number 1 to 25, also with numbers 26-100 listed alphabetically. The judging took place at scenic Bayleaf Restaurant in Napa over a two day period on January 21-22, 2010. The top wines were re-evaluated on day-two to narrow the list to the “Best of the Best.”
“This is the first time in the history of the Napa Valley that such an extensive tasting of Cabernet Sauvignons have been judged in one setting,” said Nelson Tucker, owner of The Wine Guy and organizer of the event. “There are many wine critics and wine publications that rate wines but this will be the first time all of the Cabs of Napa have been invited to be rated on such a prestigious list.”
Bayleaf Restaurant in Napa was the beautiful setting for the Public Grand Tasting on Saturday, February 13, in the Big Tent. Wines from many of the Top 100 list were available for tasting along with tray-passed hors d’oeuvres.
A portion of the proceeds went to support the local youth projects of the Kiwanis Club of Napa.
